Send a word
A word your family used that came from English: the car, the fridge, the backyard, the job. Send it with what it meant, where you heard it and roughly when. The editors check every word before it is published, and if it is, your name goes on it.
What happens next
- The editors read it and check it against the published sources and the other reports of the same word.
- If it is new, it is published as a community report, credited to you, with the place and decade you gave.
- If a second person reports it, the mark that it needs confirming comes off.
One credible witness with a place and a decade is enough to publish a word marked as needing confirmation. Nothing you send is published without the editors' check. How words are checked.
Not sure it counts? Send it anyway. A word the editors cannot use stays in the research record.
